Double-Scaling Limit of a Broken Symmetry Quantum Field Theory

چکیده
The Ising limit of a conventional Hermitian parity-symmetric scalar quantum field theory is a correlated limit in which two bare Lagrangian parameters, the coupling constant g and the negative mass squared −m2, both approach infinity with the ratio −m2/g = α > 0 held fixed. In this limit the renormalized mass of the asymptotic theory is finite. Moreover, the limiting theory exhibits universal properties. For a non-Hermitian PT -symmetric Lagrangian lacking parity symmetry, whose interaction term has the form −g(iφ)N/N , the renormalized mass diverges in this correlated limit. Nevertheless, the asymptotic theory still has interesting properties. For example, the one-point Green’s

Double-scaling limit of a broken symmetry quantum field theory in dimensions DË2
The Ising limit is a correlated limit in which two bare Lagrangian parameters, the coupling constant g and the negative mass squared 2m, both approach infinity with the ratio 2m/g5a.0 held fixed. In a conventional Hermitian paritysymmetric scalar quantum field theory, with interaction term gufu/N , the renormalized mass of the asymptotic theory is finite in this limit, and the limiting theory e...
متن کاملNon-equilibrium dynamics in quantum field theory at high density: the tsunami
The dynamics of a dense relativistic quantum fluid out of thermodynamic equilibrium is studied in the framework of the Φ4 scalar field theory in the large N limit. The time evolution of a particle distribution in momentum space (the tsunami) is computed. The effective mass felt by the particles in such a high density medium equals the tree level mass plus the expectation value of the squared fi...
متن کاملKink scaling functions in 2D non–integrable quantum field theories
We determine the semiclassical energy levels for the φ field theory in the broken symmetry phase on a 2D cylindrical geometry with antiperiodic boundary conditions by quantizing the appropriate finite–volume kink solutions. The analytic form of the kink scaling functions for arbitrary size of the system allows us to describe the flow between the twisted sector of c = 1 CFT in the UV region and ...
متن کاملA ug 1 99 6 The large - N expansion of unitary - matrix models
The general features of the 1/N expansion in statistical mechanics and quantum field theory are briefly reviewed both from the theoretical and from the phenomenological point of view as an introduction to a more detailed analysis of the large-N properties of spin and gauge models possessing the symmetry group SU(N)× SU(N). An extensive discussion of the known properties of the single-link integ...
